Grant delivers chaga mushroom samples to the Royal Ontario Museum's fugal department. The plan is to culture chaga mycelium which could then be used to initiated a tree inoculation program for woodlot owners interested in farming chaga.

Greenfoot introduces Life4ce Chaga Extract at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. The new extract sells very well and is received positively by customers.

August, 2015
Grant moves to Southern Ontario to begin networking and developing a marketing strategy for sales and distribution of Life4ce Chaga Extract. Life4ce is the chosen name of the startup company selling Greenfoot Extract.

Greenfoot shuts down the temporary extraction facility and transfers all it's assets to the capable hands of a brand new startup company. This startup company consists of a local northern business man and a small team of chaga harvesters.

Grant has further discussion with scientists about the growing need for an Institute of Mycology and how such and institute could support the objectives of the Land Use Policies which had been recently reviewed. An institute of mycology would provided knowledge resources which would support the development of light industry in disenfranchised rural communities.

Grant attends several of the Co-ordinated Land Use Planning Review Town Hall meetings. These include the Town Hall meetings of Kitchener, Caledon, and Toronto which were held on March 25, 26 and 30 respectively. Grant met and spoke with many farmers, land developers, activists and government officials. These were excellent and informative meetings.

On CBC Radio, Backroads Bill joins Markus Schwabe and Barry Mercer in the studio to sample some of Greenfoot's chaga tea. In addition to a taste test they discuss sustainability and the chaga maps found on Greenfoot.ca

Grant completes the construction and testing of a new chaga extractor proto type. The extractor incorporates several design suggestions of Dr Jha of Nipissing University to ensure a quality chaga extract at low cost.

Grant completes the programming of a new online map server.The map server will allow Ontario harvesters to find sustainable sources of chaga and to leave feedback when an area has been harvested. Building the server took several months of programming to complete.

Grant publishes an article in Vista Magazine titled Chaga-Mania. The article shares some interesting data on how much chaga is actually out there.

Grant Lauzon speaks about chaga sustainability at the Argi-Food Conference. The one day conference brought together some of the brightest minds in Northern Ontario and abroad, to discuss the future of the Agri-Food and Health sector in our region, including the need to establish a new scientific and commercial institute focused on mycology and natural products. As well as help develop strategies to further transform these ideas into realities. Read more

Grant Lauzon meets with scientists at University of Toronto to discuss chaga and the need to establish an Institute of Mycology to further the study of Northern Canada's vast collection of undiscovered medicinal fungi.

Grant Lauzon trains Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources' forest surveyors how to identify chaga. MNR has agreed to include the presence of chaga as part of it's ground truthing survey data. The data will be invaluable in creating statistical models to help calculate Ontario's sustainable chaga inventories. It will also provide a valuable base line to compare future chaga supplies and the impact of over harvesting.
